Where we've been...

On Wednesday we had an appointment with the mid-wife at our birth center. The Wee One seems to be doing well- moving and has a beating heart. We then drove down to visit Dr. Daddy's family. We celebrated his birthday by having Turkish food for dinner- oh yum! And cheesecake for dessert. It was an apple-cinnamon cheesecake and tasted better than the picture looks.

apples, pecans, cinnamon and a little streusal baked in with a lightly cinnamon-y cheesecake
The next day we met some friends from AZ and went to the zoo. Alas, our camera battery died as soon as we got there, so we didn't get any pictures. Eirena's favorite was the elephant that kept dumping dust and dirt on himself. She thought that was hilariously funny and wanted to go see it a second time.
On Friday we met up with Dr. Daddy's brother and family at a park.

the water fountains were a big hit with everyone- it was blazingly hot

see that joyful look of anticipation? see what's coming around the bend?

Yes, Eirena got to ride the train.
Brownie points to Uncle Nate who told us the secret of getting on at the stations where you don't have to pay!

We headed home Saturday but not before Eirena got to go swimming with Dr. Daddy. By which I mean, Dr. Daddy throws her up in the air and she splashes in the water as he catches her. She gets to spin with him and she can jump from the side of the pool and have him catch her. And they blow bubbles together. What fun!
