We used to keep Uc in my closet while we were out in order to limit her mischief. Well then we moved her to the downstairs bathroom so she would have a little more space (and removed/hid EVERYTHING). When we neglected to put the toilet paper in a cupboard but instead left it in the far back corner of the sink, we found it mauled and chewed on the floor when we returned.
This past Sunday we had friends visiting so instead having them remove everything from the bathroom, we decided to just put the dog back in the closet upstairs. Now this is the closet where, with great effort, I keep all my clothes on hangers. Actually the longer dresses are in the other closet so that Uc couldn't gnaw on them in boredom.
So we went to church on Sunday. And then there was a church picnic. I left the dog in the closet with her "blanket", a bone and a chew toy. When we returned 80% of my shirts were on the closet floor. A couple of hangers had come down with the clothes. On the plastic ones the hook part had been chewed off. And the bone and chew toy? Untouched.

you need to get a crate...it's not cruel, you can find them on e-bay or maybe even craigslist
Sounds familiar. We tried leaving Ashton out a few years ago, he kept finding all kinds of mischief to get into. So we just crate the dogs now when we're gone.
I can just imagine Uc jumping around and going crazy in there having a grand old time pulling all your clothes off the hangers. It would have been a sight to see. :)
When she was little (smaller than the cats) we left her in the cat's travel crate. But she outgrew that and we just haven't gotten one large enough for her yet. We were also waiting to see how big we would need ;) But I think a crate will be acquired eventually!
