An uprising in the making

It would appear that Berji's domain will not be hers much longer. The little human seems to be asserting her power over Berji. A couple of days ago she was playing in her inflatable Thomas pool. She came inside, picked Berji up and dumped her in Thomas. Both Eirena and Uc thought this was a great idea. The cat thought she suffered great indignities and raced inside.
This morning the little human felt the need to have Berji join her in the shower. Again, she picked her highness up and dumped her under the running water.
Certainly her-higness- Berji is not getting the respect she thinks she deserves. My questions is, how much longer will it be her domain? (And when will I have to change the name of the blog?) :)

Never too late to learn something new

On Sunday I planned to make a wilted spinach salad with baked potatoes for dinner. There was the option of making the salad not wilted, so I decided to poll Dr. Daddy on which he preferred. Turns out he didn't know what wilted salads were, so I figured I would make it wilted and he could decide. Turns out he isn't that keen on wilted spinach salads. So there we were eating dinner and somehow the conversation comes around to baked potatoes. In being married to him 7+ years, I never knew that baked potatoes were only of moderate interest to him as a carb source. Mashed potatoes are better, but his carb of choice is rice. I guess I'll stay married to him for another 7 years to see what else I can learn about him!

On a side note, I managed yet again to leave out an ingredient while cooking on Sunday. This time it was the sunflower seeds to put on the salad. Dr. Daddy is having great fun with this pregnancy, noting all the things I'm forgetting to put in our food. But I must say, that so far, I haven't yet made a tuna casserole without the tuna like a college roommate of mine once did. (She wasn't pregnant, but she was trying to impress a guy- he married her so I guess it all worked out in the end.)

Road trip!

Last week Dr. Daddy had to do some work in a lab in Tucson. Eirena, Uc and I tagged along. It was great to be back in Arizona and see some mountains again! After driving for two days we were all a little stir crazy, so we headed up to Mt. Lemmon.

We all really liked the opportunity of stretching our legs and smelling the fresh pine-scented air. (Well I don't know if Uc noticed the pine-scented air...)

We let crazy mutt off her leash and played fetch with her. She loved the chance to jump over logs and run wildly around dashing from thrown stick to thrown rock. And it wore her out so well she didn't even think about puking on the way down the mountain!

We also got to see some of our friends while we were there. I'm not sure if Eirena actually remembered them or not, but it didn't take her long to warm up to them.

Our hotel was literally right across the road from Trader Joe's. (happiness!) Eirena and I were quite pleased with that scenario. Uc on the other hand, was thrilled that I let her chase bunnies and lizards in the dry river bed. (She did run into a rattlesnake, but it warned her and she actually heeded its rattle-y warning!)
Although we didn't see too much of Dr. Daddy during the few days we were there due to his odd work schedule, we kept ourselves busy enjoying the dry heat and revisiting some important places.
