Just know that if you are choosing to read on, you have been warned that you might find out more than you wanted to know.
About a week ago we were having dinner with the Christian grad student group here. No matter how hard I tried to think of something to say about what our household was occupied with, I couldn't think of anything that didn't revolve around poop in some way. I guess that comes from dealing with it all as my "hobby" as Dr. Daddy likes to say. Anyway, this led to a discussion with another person, unmarried, no children about a church group that included couple and couples with young children and he said inevitably the conversation always came back to poop or potty training. (At least I'm not the only one!)
Unfortunately, I think my brain has taken it to an all new low... last night I dreamed of poop. Really? Why couldn't I be dreaming of wildflowers?
I will spare the details because I know that is too much information.

That New Appliance Smell
I am reveling in the smell of a new dishwasher. Not just because I love the smell of new appliances- actually I find that smell a little odd. But it signifies wonderful things. First, that our old dishwasher is no longer pretending to work. I must say pretending because it was getting to the point where I would put the dirty dishes in cleaner than I would take them out (after having run a full cycle). Figure that one out. Then it up and broke on us. Of course it didn't let us know this until after I loaded a full load of dishes, started it and watched it fill and not drain. But then it did drain. Onto the floor. And then it got water from the garbage disposal (I assume) into it and sat there for a few days before we noticed a horrid smell. And nothing would remove that smell from the kitchen and hence my nose. Meanwhile, two weeks of hand washing makes one very appreciative of modern conveniences.
So yeah, even though I haven't actually used it yet, I'm loving the new dishwasher and its funky new smell.

All things Easter?
Yesterday we were grocery shopping and Eirena proclaimed "look mommy! there are balloons!". Actually they were very large eggs in purple and yellow. It was easy to see why she was confused. But then she wanted to know why there were large eggs on display in (dare I say garish?) colors.
All of this to say that I am glad that Eirena (and Adisu and Eskil) don't know about all the "associations" of Easter. Personally, I only remember decorating eggs once for Easter. And I didn't really get the point and I certainly didn't enjoy eating it the next day (because I don't like eggs). So can anyone explain to me the point of Easter eggs? Bunnies? Bunnies bringing eggs? Easter baskets? I don't understand any of this stuff. I feel like it must be some major cultural thing I skipped out on. But until I understand it all, we'll keep celebrating Easter as the celebration of Christ's resurrection.
